Sailing is a wonderful way to experience the great outdoors and a unique way to see parts of the world that are well worth exploring. But where should you go for the best sailing in the world? Here are 10 dream destinations:
1) The Grenadines
Also known as the Spice Islands, The Grenadines are an archipelago of 32 islands
in the southern Caribbean, and this part of the world is absolutely worth a visit. Sailors especially should visit these rocky isles, covered in lush green and surrounded by pure aquamarine seas.
2) Riviera, France
If you want a truly glamorous sailing adventure then the French Riviera is the place to go. The sailing in these turquoise Mediterranean waters is something that shouldn’t be missed, and this part of the world has much more to offer besides, from the celebrity sparkle of Cannes during festival season to the unadulterated glamour and exclusivity of Saint-Tropez.
3) Minorca, Spain
The Balearic island of Minorca is ringed with stunning white sand beaches, which look wonderful from the deck of your boat, and may well tempt you to explore them more closely. Mysterious coves, sandy stretches and stunning scenery, plus a wonderful climate, make Minorca a must for the sailing completist.
4) Whitsundays, Australia
If you live in Europe, or in fact anywhere other than Australia you might not consider it for a sailing holiday. But there are of course sailing boats to rent down under and if you do make the journey, you won’t be disappointed. The Whitsundays is a collection of beautiful islands, most of which lie in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, a place unequaled for the menagerie of marine life on show.
5) Catalina Island, California
It may surprise you that just over 20 miles from the sprawling hub of Los Angeles, is a sailor’s paradise. Rich marine life, sunken ships and even a plane lie beneath the big blue here, and the proximity to restaurants, shops and all other amenities means those who don’t want to sail the whole time can still find lots to do.
The above 5 options should have you scrubbing your deck and checking all your marine equipment is in order, so consider the wonderful destinations out there and get out on your next sailing adventure.
