It’s common knowledge that good food doesn’t come at a low price. The standard McDonald’s meal might taste good, but it sure isn’t healthy for you. Nor is it made from premium quality materials. A decent, high-quality meal at one of the world’s finest restaurants could easily set you back $500-$1,000 or more.
This infographic explores many of the world’s most expensive food items. Some foods listed in the infographic are fairly common, such as potatoes, milk, and cheese. However, the fact that some of these are grown in very specific regions, and have distinctive tastes, often leads to a very different price. For instance, the Beluga Caviar mentioned on the list retails for anywhere between 4,000GBP and 15,000GBP for a mere 2.2 lbs.
The infographic lists foods from all over the world, ranging from Wagyu steaks from Japan to the most expensive hamburger in the United States. It also lists beverages at the end that are considered to be the most expensive. Of course, the Kopi Luwak, or civet coffee, makes the list for its unique taste and elaborate manufacturing process. The infographic gives you a close look at the most expensive foods and beverages in the world, as well as telling you where to find them. Of course, many of these foods and beverages are an acquired taste, so it is likely that an ordinary person might not even want to try them again, not because of the price, but because of the taste!
