Different Types of Cycling to Try Yourself
Keen cyclists all tend to have their own set of preferences as to which variety provides them with the greatest sense of satisfaction. However, if you have not tried them all out, how do you know what you are going to enjoy the most? With this in mind, here are a few different types of cycling that you have to try yourself.
Road Cycling
Perhaps that most popular variety is road cycling. With so many different routes, the options are endless. Plus, there is the natural advantage that you can start from your front door. Also, it is a type that is suitable for people of all ages and ability levels. The main challenges come from pace, endurance, and energy management. When you are out on the roads, you work on your cardio, as well as the conditioning of your muscles.
Mountain Biking
Next up, we have mountain biking, which is more challenging yet adrenaline-fuelled. Mountain bikes are heavier than road bikes, though you could look at hybrid bikes for men, which are a good mix of the two. You’ll find a vast selection of mens hybrid bikes online. You are likely to get a harder workout from mountain biking, which is largely down to the number of ascents and descents that you will take on. Ultimately, it is worthwhile choosing a trail that suits your ability level best. You will learn some different core skills, including the ability to shift your body weight.
Track Cycling
If you want to feel like you are an Olympian, track cycling is a fantastic discipline. Unlike the above two, it requires continual pedalling in the same gear. The speeds can reach high levels, and there are no brakes to speak of. To succeed at this particular discipline, you will need to build up your general fitness levels. Sprinting presents an opportunity to show off your power over a short distance.
Cyclocross
If you have never heard of cyclocross before, it essentially consists of a road racing bike with mountain tyres. You will find yourself confronted with all sorts of different terrain, and your technical skills will be tested along the way. Ultimately, you get the best of all the types of cycling above. There is no doubt that there is a lot of fun to be had along the way!
BMXing
The final cycling discipline that we are going to discuss is BMXing. The bikes are much smaller, and you will be faced with a whole host of obstacles along the way. The more experienced riders can show off their tricks on ramps. You will need short bursts of energy, as well as a high level of bike handling ability. The other major advantage is that this is an affordable type of biking to enjoy.
If you are not a big cyclist, these are the main options that you have to choose between. If you are already committed to one of these disciplines, why not try out another one and potentially find a new passion?
