Hmm, this page is really tricky to write without sounding completely narcissistic and neurotic!
My name’s Becky. I’m close to the 30 mark (very close in fact, but you don’t need to know birthday specifics…!), I’m a teacher, runner, dog-walker, traveller, writer (ha! That sounds way more professional than it should!), proud auntie to a gorgeous niece and nephew AND…
OUTDOOR ENTHUSIAST!
What I do on the Weekend (and after work in the summer months when exams are over!)
I love being outdoors (my boyfriend says I’m like a dog who needs to be let out twice a day or I’ll start chewing furniture), and I live in North Wales so I have total access to some fabulous locations that are in every way perfect for some of my favourite hobbies…
KAYAKING (obviously! The clue is in the name!)…
MOUNTAIN BIKING…
HIKING…
HORSE RIDING…
CANYONING…
Basically, anything that involves being outdoors in some gorgeous locations.
Loads of people with blogs similar to mine (or what I want mine to be like!) describe themselves as adrenaline junkies. I’m not sure I fall into that category though, in all honesty – I just like being outside and having fun! I’m not that bothered about the number of times I risk death, truth be told.
My Blog
First and foremost, this blog is for me; it’s my record of all my favourite days out, activities and experiences – kind of like a journal, but public. I want to be able to look back on it in 10 years and remember all the cool stuff I did when I was younger.
Secondly, I thought it might be useful to one or two people to share my ideas and recommendations for different outdoor activities both in the UK and abroad (I’ve been granted a sabbatical for the next academic year, so will have the amazing opportunity to try all manner of activities abroad – I can’t wait! Watch this space…). I research new place to kayak and cycle etc all the time, so thought I’d add to the pool…
Where I’ve Been…
My favourite experiences to date include:
- Teaching my boyfriend to kayak on the River Dee
- Cycling in Yongshuo, China (back in the day!)
- Hiking in Bryce Canyon National Park, USA
- Mountain biking in Coed y Brenin, North Wales
And Where I’m Going…
- BORNEO! That’s definitely on my bucket list for my sabbatical year. I’ve heard some of the national parks there are like heaven, plus there’s Kota Kinabalu I’m DYING to try!
- THAILAND! To see some elephants and try diving for the first time…eek!
- NEW ZEALAND! Adventure capital of the world. Enough said!
