8 Unforgettable Things to Do in Los Angeles

LA is the entertainment capital of the world. This city is the home of Hollywood and Beverly Hills. Visitors come here hoping to rub shoulders with their favorite movie stars and musicians.

The city is a magnet for tourists. Some are backpackers, others stay in high-end vacation rentals in Los Angeles. Regardless of your budget, you’re going to want to have a memorable time in LA. I’m going to show you how you can have eight unforgettable experiences in this city.

Important Information about LA:

Before we start, it’s worth pointing out that this city is huge. You can’t expect to visit all the attractions in a single day. Tourists can stay for longer than a week and still not do everything they want. Public transport isn’t the best either, compared to European standards anyway. It may be better to rent a car to give yourself the flexibility to move around.

Now you’re armed with these important tips, let’s get started on the eight unforgettable experiences to have in LA.

1# Walk along Hollywood Boulevard:

Hollywood Boulevard is one of the most famous streets in the world. You can take photos with your favorite celebrities along the Walk of Fame. There are movies stars, TV stars, and some of the biggest names in music. Elvis Presley and the Beatles are some of the more popular ones to see.

This is also a great place to come and wander around. See some of the sculptures and art that make the boulevard attractive. It’s also likely that you’re going to see a few street performers. When I was there, I saw a woman that charged tourists to take a photo with a giant snake.

2# Visit Universal Studios:

Universal Studios is a great experience for all ages. You don’t have to be with your kids to come to this film studio and theme park. Some of the highlights include Minion themed activities and the opportunity to be a wizard for the day in the Harry Potter sections. This is a great place to come and spend a magical day.

3# Learn to Surf at Santa Monica Beach:

When you’re in California, take the opportunity to get out to the waves and learn to surf. The State usually has mild winters and hot summers, which make it a perfect all year round place to enjoy the beach.

Santa Monica is a perfect place to surf. You can rent a board or hire an instructor to teach you the basics. There are also a few surf schools. After you’re done, it’s a great beach to relax and soak up the atmosphere with the locals or enjoy a cold drink in one of the bars.

4#: Visit Disneyland:

Even as adults, we still like Disneyland. This is mostly a place for families and is a fun day out with the kids. You can introduce yourself to some of your favorite classic characters such as Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. I had a better time here with my little ones than at the one in Florida.

5# Go to LACMA:

LACMA stands for Los Angeles County Museum of Art. This museum is a nice way to have a cultural experience in LA and enjoy some art. You can see paintings and sculptures from all around the world including Papua New Guinea and Egypt along with some more contemporary displays. I found this an interesting way to spend a few hours in the city.

6# See a Stand Up Comedian:

We all love a good laugh and this city isn’t short of wannabee comedians wanting to make it big. The Laugh Factory in West Hollywood holds regular comedy shows where you can see some of the amateurs. Different people perform each day of the week and so every night is a new experience. Check it out if you have the chance, it’s a fun way to spend a night.

7# Take Advantage of Twitter to Find a Food Truck:

Food trucks travel around the city serving some of the best food in the entire State. They’re not static and move to a new spot each day. You can follow their twitter updates and move around the city with them to get some of the best food.

8# Experience the Multiculturalism:

LA is a very diverse city and it’s full of multiculturalism. This means that you can find several types of cuisine. If you like Asian food, go to Chinatown, Little Korea or Little Japan. For the more adventurous, there’s also a Little Ethiopia where you can have the chance to taste some of their traditional curries.

The Takeaway Message:

Most people who visit leave an imprint in their memories forever. Make yours a positive one by trying some of these eight unforgettable experiences in one of the most famous cities in the world.
